The Los Angeles Times reports that La Palma, California's City Council has tentatively approved a noise ordinance to restrict operating noise and time for leaf blowers. Full approval would come with another positive vote on April 15, and enforcement would begin a month later.

The article reports that under the law, leaf blowers would have to stay under a 70-decibel noise level and could only operate between 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays and holidays, and between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. at other times.

According to the article, a city councilwoman originally proposed the law because residents have complained of noise and dust.
